XAT 2007

So after CAT 2006, it's XAT 2007. Ofcourse there was a JMET, SNAP in between and a FMS later but nothing can beat the hype created around the 1st two exams above in the same order. CAT 2006 results left me in frustration, anger & uncertainty wherein I thought the paper wasn't that tough. But XAT 2007 was tough - ask anyone who appeared for the test and all you can hear is curses for making the paper so scary. But I loved it despite its look. Which other MBA entrance puts up question related to decision making ability? Yes the logical part not only contained general questions but had case studies as well and we were expected to take a decision based on the problems. Wow man, that was something. B schools are finally looking at managers right from written test. I was darn impressed. And they went on to the extent of renaming the section to Logial ability & decision making process from logical reasoning. Way to go Xavier Instis. And there I was on the morning of 22nd Jan checking if I could see some decent XAT associated instis. And what do I see, a section saying download score card. I was like f*** man,not again. There supposed to be out on 31st jan,why so early!!!!!!!!!!!Mustering up all the residual courage (CAT results did shake me up badly) I logged in with my id & password. With half eyes closed & half eyes open, I could see a 9..I opened both eyes & boy, opened them wide too - there was a 96.6 waiting. I really couldn't beleieve that. After disappointments surrounding me from the second day of 2007,it was tough to think something good might happen this year. Quant & verbal definetly did me down & xlri havent given me a call, but the fact that I got a 99.5 in decision making just told me how right I was to choose this corporate world. An still in that dazed condition as monday morning,still waiting for calls frim XIMB,GIM,SPJ,XIME,LIBA & many others but the whole feeling of cracking the toughest nut takes me to cloud nine.For updates on calls, keep on reading this site.

The Road Not Taken - The Poem

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;


Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that, the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,


And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I marked the first for another day!

I doubted if I should ever come back.

CAT 2006

I am one of those 1.9 lakhs enthu candidates who appeared for CAT 2006 n then what!!!!!!!!!IIM's screwed my life obviously...Gosh the topmost institute in India for MBA sets a question paper having 75 qs overall (Sure needs to drink BOOST to get some energy or shud it be Red Bull). Going by their trend of decreasing the number of q's per year we can surely expect a blank paper with answer options only (or probably the q will be SET THE QUESTION going by answer options) in CAT 2010. And it was a paper having mistakes...IIM's - if you want to take perfect people,set an example by making a perfect q paper atleast. Then the VA section -everyone came out saying what was that!!felt more like being in an alien land reading an alien language....I just have one qs abt the VA section - whoever has scored well in this section is it because they understood it or was it sheer luck. And for people who didnt do well, trust me it doesnt show ur real self or ur grip over the subject. But does it really matter now- results are out n i dont even know where i stand with a mere 80 percentile. Should I give it again? But there's no guarantee that things won't be as dicey as this year. Or should I go with what I have got n select an insti which accpets scores like mine? But does that asure satisfaction n good placement. Too many should I's & shouldn't I's......thats what my life has become- To be or not to be.

Lots & lots to tell....considering this is my first blog,will take it slow...A post grad in Chemistry (the smell of Hydrogen Sulphide still lingers in the memory whenever I break stale eggs) ....now a market researcher (s**t what's that!!!!!!)....sanity n planning- far fetched dreams, never to be realised....but I have views & quite strong views...this is my way of expressing them & you can definitely agree or disagree BUT don't cross that subtle line which differentiates views & harsh word...Welcome to my space - my blog,my life
